For example, it is against state and federal law for many convicted felons to possess a firearm. And if a gun is used to commit another crime, such as robbery, that leads to elevated criminal charges.
• Expungements: The legal process known as an expungement essentially "erases" an arrest or conviction from a person's criminal record. Expunges are regulated by state law.
• White Collar Crimes: Just because a criminal offense does not involve allegations of physical violence, that does not mean you should not take the charges seriously. Many white collar crimes like counterfeiting, embezzlement, fraud, and forgery carry penalties that are just as severe--if not more so--than crimes of violence.
