I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how we can all boost our practices and have more fun doing it. Ever heard of a mastermind group?Basically, it’s a bunch of like-minded folks who get together regularly to share ideas, tackle challenges, and cheer each other on. It’s like having a built-in support system of smart, motivated peers.
Here’s why I think it’s awesome:
- 1. Problem-Solving: Got a tough case or business issue? The group can offer fresh perspectives and solutions.
- 2. Accountability: Sharing your goals with the group helps keep you on track. We all need a little nudge now and then!
- 3. Networking: You’ll expand your circle, which can lead to new opportunities and referrals.
- 4. Personal Growth: Learning from others’ experiences can give you insights you might not get on your own.
- 5. Support System: Running a firm can be lonely. A mastermind group provides a sense of community and support.
I’m putting together a mastermind group for a few of us who are eager to grow, share, and support each other. If you’re interested or just want to know more, put your info in the form above so I can keep you posted!
Again, this is a work in progress, so nothing is set in stone, but here are my ROUGH thoughts on when, where, who, etc:
WHO
- Maybe 10-20 attorneys
- Limited number of people per practice area, eg only 2 family law attorneys etc
WHEN
- Meet once per month, like the second Tuesday of each month or whatever works best
- Maybe start in September 2024
WHAT
- Lunch and discussion of a business development topic (e.g. time management)
- Everyone has the OPTION to share a problem they are working on, and we brainstorm
WHERE
- Possibly my office building (in OKC, NW 50th and May). It has a conference room that I can rent as needed, and I think it would be the right size, so thats an option.
WHY
- To learn, grow, get a few new clients, and hang out with some cool people, and have like-minded people to bounce ideas off of, collective wisdom and all that
